It works with Vista for me. I guess it's the best monitor of this sort right now. I think the people that say the max rate of the bars is too high for them to see it moving much... Well, DSL can work faster than it will on some speed test. It depends on what kind of connections you are making. Also, it measures NETWORK data, not just internet data. Most everyone has a combination router/switch at this point.

It shows network speed ie speed of all the networks including ethernet , WAN, wireless network adaptor and ms tcp loopback interface but doesn't provide option to select the network which you want to monitor. For monitoring internet you only need to monitor WAN(PPP/SLIP interface) for wired internet through ethernet. so this option should be included for getting correct internet usage which is much less than total network usage

It displays my network speeds perfectly, but I wanted it to display my internet speeds. Any workaround, help needed.

Dead download link. Too bad, I was especially looking for a gadget like this one. I guess I'll keep on searching then *sigh* ... too many gadgets in the first place to dig in, and way too many that are full of bugs... after a while you cannot see the forest for the trees anymore after testing dozens of crashing gadgets causing my whole Windows system to freeze or hangups, blue screens/sudden reboots! And since the install of Google Desktop my whole system becomes as slow as a snail and it eats memory like a hungry tiger. Well done, Google! *NOT* I think I'll have to uninstall this whole Desktop Search application before my system is completely f*cked up... :(

Ben Coleman (solution): If you are running XP or Vista and you still see an error about “Win32_PerfFormattedData_Tcpip_NetworkInterface” when starting the gadget then please run the following command “wmiadap /f” and remove & re-add the gadget.

Nice idea, but I also get the doubling of the data rate issue.

Hey, excellent product. Suggestion: incorporate an option to adjust the total download upload amounts. This will let people have a more accurate representation to how close they are to going over there usage cap. As it is pretty hard to do it at exactly midnight on whatever day your usage resets, etc.

A bit annoying, since it often claims my max upload and download speed is double or more of what is physically possible on my ADSL line. I've set it manually but it still claims I'm regularly going over 100% of my speed limit- which is impossible, as verified by speedtest.net.

The gadget is nice, but the units are wrong. I had to select KBs to see truly kbps.

Gadget was functioning excelently until installing the new update, actually the same comment as "jalford12 Report this comment I tried installing this on an XP SP3 OS and the gadget won't install with the error message -------------- Failed to obtain WMI locator for Win32_PerfFormattedData_Tcpip_NetworkInterface class This gadget only supports Windows XP or higher ---------------------- What's up with this? Fortunately the Net Meter Dial is working excellently. What can I do to correct Net Meter?

The gadget will not load in Google Desktop 5.5.0709.30344-en-pb. It says that it needs GDS 5 and complains about an invalid ID.
