Awesome- been planning an LED version of this, great to see it in action in software - nice one!

Love the visuals. However, sometimes at random the 8th bit in the seconds column will always be lit. I don't know what causes this, but in order to fix this I have to remove the gadget, then re add it. Kind of annoying. I'm running Windows XP

Absolutely freakin' amazing!!! The BEST google gadget I've seen!!! Also the most customizable... you can make ANYTHING in the gadget ANY color you want!!!!!! Each of the 4 parts of the gadget have a field where you can enter a specific color value in hex code!!! That's freakin' sweet - I haven't seen any other gadget with options nearly that specific!!! Also let's you add or remove any of the 4 display features. Looks cool, works great, and is COMPLETELY customizable. It doesn't get any better than this.

A quick fix if you have access to the code is to change the reDraw() function. Right before the 3 calls to reDrawImages(...) add: reDrawHelpNumbers(); reDrawBackground(); reDrawBinaryTimeFormat();

Thanks for writing this! I've always felt that a binary clock was the ultimate sign of elder geekdom! As several posters have noted, this is more accurately described as a BCD, or binary coded decimal clock. I actually had trouble reading it until I noticed the "extra" LED on the left and realized that the high "number" rolled over at 1001, instead of 1100. My personal preference is pure binary, because that is of course what I use as a developer and I'm used to it. I'm sure BCD helps non-geeks learn to use it more quickly, but, um, seriously, how many non-geeks would put something like this on their desktop? :-) Thanks for the app, though! Joke: How do you drive a non-geek crazy? A: Give them a binary clock and ask them what time it is!

Same here...the "8 bit" in the seconds doesn't clear once it is set on.

The bit 8 on the seconds doesn't clear once it's been turned on.

Nice work, but... Needs customization on whether to use a binary number for each digit (as now, a decimal-binary hybrid) or pure binary (a binary number for seconds, minutes and hours).

Uri
Bugged. Someone not clear "8" lowest (seconds) bit after moving from 9 to 0.

yo dig your bin calculator! im getting quick at reading it hahaha! though i think i've noticed a bug where the minutes and seconds jump from 49 to 58 then to 50,51,52 etc. doesn't seem to clear the 4th bit. ok actually it often doesn't clear the 4th bit :P

It's funny but I'd prefer it if it was like this 1010 (10) 100010 (36) instead of this 01 (1) 0000 (0) 011 (3) 0110 (6)

Nice, really good.

Good thing, a binary clock. This one looks quite fine, but I found the underlying code a bit inefficient. Tip for the developer: use the bitwise AND operator to find what lamps to light instead of multiple IF THEN ELSE searches.
