This gadget has been confirmed as virus free. If you receive a "not authorized", install Skype error or warning popups, you'll need to install Skype again, but this time make sure that you install the Skype Extras Manager. To install the Skype Extras Manager, go to http://www.skype.com and download & install skype. When installing, click on Options and make sure that Extras Manager is selected. bad news bears...this thing doesn't work at all. i do serious computer upkeep and all my drivers and software is up to date. popups everywhere. this needs a lot of improvement before i'd consider downloading it again.

I experienced the same trouble, i.e. massive numbers of error alerts saying "Hey, you need the latest plugin!" and am fed up. To remove from a sidebar, I do not remove completely this from PCs, let this gadget show a menu by clickign a triangle up side down in the centre, and put Ctrl+E immediately after you answer to all error messages. In order to achieve, you live the error messages, i.e. do not click anywhere once you have many messages and put Enter several times as same as a number of error messages show up and immediately after you Enter to the last message and it is gone, do Ctrl+E

I've tried it a lot of time. Never works. I just figure out that if I uncheck the "users" box.It works.But then, it's really useless! I guess there is users limit (i have really a lot of Skype contacts:job,family,friends,...)

Funciona muy bien una vez que consigue conectarse. Mientras, al inicio de Windows (XP en mi caso) abre varias instancias de Skype y pide login en cada una de ellas (aunque usuario y pass estén grabados) y aparece el problema que informa Rini en otro comentario. Fuera de ese "inconveniente" es muy práctico. Probé la versión 2.0.0.8 del plugin con Skype 4.0.0.224, G Desktop 5.8.0811 y WinXP Pro español SP3.

This has installed some sort of virus on my system where pop up windows continue to come up (at least a dozen of them) all saying that I need to install the latest skype. I have removed this Gadget from my google desktop, but these windows keep coming up. Annoying!!! Do NOT download.
