BBwonder, that must be your computer cause I use Chrome as my default browser and it works perfectly.

After spending several minutes trying to understand why I couldnt view the admin webpage (using Google's own browser - Chrome) - I tried it using Internet explorer which worked first time!!! How did this app Pass Quality control??

For the longest time I was trying to figure out what was slowing down my computer. I rarely ever turn it off. I checked task manager. Google Media Scanner which is a process run via Google Media Server had hogged up 700+ MB of memory!!!!!!!! Can you say memory leak!

Some information on what to expect, and how this works would be nice. It appears to be opening every media file on my PC atm and taking up a LOT of CPU usage. The admin page doesn't open, which I can only hope will eventually work when the indexing is done. I simply wanted to use this to view my Picasa albums via my consoles, etc It would be nice if it had given me the option to configure it prior to it going mad indexing all it can get it's hands on! I'll leave it go for a few hours but so far I'm not impressed.

Awesome! I am PS3 and it works well. Very user friendly and has changed my home entertainment for the better! I would recommend to use a similar Picasa search engine for consistent media discovery - but a whole lot better than dealing with that windows Media..

Google Desktop 5 doesn't support 64 bit Vista yet. Hence, I can't test the Google Media Server. Shame. Common Google... please add the support for 64 bit.

I have downloaded Google Media server on my PC and streaming the content on TV. I have placed some content(like MPEG2, PEG, MP3, H264, WMV9, MP4) on Desktop of PC and viewing the contents on TV via Google server - Desktop and I am able to view MPEG2, JPEG, MP3 contents on TV but not able to see MP4, H264, WMV9 files. So please let me know whether Google server supports MP4, WMV9, H264 files and can be viewed via Desktop of Google server.

This is genius! As the guy says below, it works great with a PS3. Not tried it with anything else. I can now watch the movies, listen to music, see the photos I have on my laptop wirelessly through the tv. I'm still looking for a way to add files directly but I'm sure it's there somewhere. Needs a friendlier, picasa-like interface but then again it is alpha. If we're going down the media server route, can we have a tool to record tv next please?! Please? Superb! : )

eh... not so hot. Doesn't use tags for music file info including album art, just file names. TVersity uses the tags. I rely heavily on tags so this doesn't work for me. I figured I could use it with Picasa, but the media server isn't recognizing any of my albums. May be some Picasa setting I'm don't see. Dunno. If anyone does, please post. Thanks.

I am unable to share a directory, it is impossible to undertand how the program works. I prefer another program: Java PS3 Media Center.

Ubuntu please!!

It works really well, i found using Internet Explorer to login to the admin control works better than trying with google chrome. Also goto the google home page and find a video (sign out) then click favourite and follow the links to link your account with your google account and you can get it working!

I installed Google Desktop so I could install the media server for my ps3 and the thing won't even open.
