I used this thing for about 3 years--as designed--in Outlook 2003. Use the Google Desktop interface--not the one that plugs into Outlook. It indexed all my attachments. Heck, I couldn't even find some these old email attachments; but, I had them copied in the index--I had the data I needed.

tries to open far too many connections to an Exchange server, exceeding the MAPI 250 limit default in Exchange. Constantly indexing Outlook and causing it to be frozen up while indexing is complete.

Nice idea, but... Really crappy plug-in. Since installing this plug-in, GDS does not shut down when requested to do so. When Outlook is running, this plug-in actually opens all MSWord attachments in Word, causing all sorts of annoying pop-ups, including messages that Normal.dot is used by another program. Also, if the indexer is running, I often get out-of-memory errors in Word.

CAVEAT: I have Outlook 2007. Unfortunately, it creates several .net errors and causes Outlook to hang. However it wasn't built for this version. It properly indexed 5400 attachments, but consistently errors on about 17 attachments. I wouldn't use with 2007, but it wasn't built for 2007.

Poor User Interface. Plug in crashed within the first hour with an unhandled exception.
