Managing the Index: Deleting your index

To delete your Google Desktop index, follow these steps:

  1. Go to the Start menu > Programs > Google Desktop > Uninstall Google Desktop.
  2. Select the 'Remove completely for all users' option in the dialog box that appears.
  3. Click Yes.
  4. Deselect the 'Keep index and gadgets' checkbox.
  5. Click Uninstall to complete the process.

Instead of deleting your entire index, you can remove or exclude specific items from your index, or pause the indexing of new items.
