This error may occur in older versions of Google Desktop, and installing the newest version should resolve the problem.
If you're not using the latest version of Google Desktop, first follow these steps to uninstall your version of Google Desktop:
- Click the Start menu on your computer taskbar.
- Select Programs.
- Select Google Desktop.
- Select Uninstall Google Desktop.
- In the dialog box that opens, select 'Remove completely for all users.'
- In the next window, deselect the 'Keep indexes and gadgets' checkbox if you want to entirely replace your current index. If you want to add new material without losing your index, keep the checkbox selected.
- Click the Uninstall button.
Now visit http://desktop.google.com to download and install the latest version.
