Find instructions for uninstalling Google Desktop by selecting your version:
- In the Apple menu, select System Preferences.
- Select Google Desktop.
- Click the Feedback tab.
- Click Uninstall Google Desktop.
- If you'd like to save your current index, be sure to select the box next to 'Save data from Google Desktop for later.' To delete your index, keep the box deselected. Saving the current index will allow Google Desktop to rebuild its index faster if you plan to reinstall Google Desktop in the future.
- Click Uninstall.
- Restart your computer.
sudo rm -rf ~/.GoogleDesktop.trindex
To uninstall Google Desktop, please follow the instructions below:
- In Finder, select Go.
- Select Applications.
- Open 'Google Updater' in this folder.
- Select Google Desktop in the Product list. If you don't see your list of installed Google software, click My Software List.
- Click Uninstall.
- If you'd like to save your current index, be sure to select the box next to 'Save data from Google Desktop for later.' To delete your index, keep the box deselected. Saving the current index will allow Google Desktop to rebuild its index faster if you plan to reinstall Google Desktop at a later time.
- Restart your computer.
Alternatively, you can uninstall from the System Preferences window.
- In the Apple menu, select System Preferences.
- Select Google Desktop.
- Click the the Feedback tab.
- Click Open Google Updater.
- Select Google Desktop in the Product list. If you don't see your list of installed Google software, click My Software List.
- Click Uninstall.
- You'll be asked if you want to delete your existing index. To remove all traces of Google Desktop, click Yes. (If you reinstall later, the index will be recreated.)
- Restart your computer.
sudo rm -rf ~/.GoogleDesktop.trindex
